Afghanistan, Grief & Identity | My Honest Thoughts
In this video, I wanted to sit down and honestly talk about my feelings before going back to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has always been one of the most emotional places in the world for me. Even though I left when I was two years old, every single time I get on that flight from Dubai to Kabul, there is this feeling in my chest that I cannot explain. It feels like home, grief, identity, nostalgia, healing, and heartbreak all at the same time.
I speak about growing up begging my dad to take me to Afghanistan, the promises he made, and what it feels like to finally experience the places he always said he would show me, but without him being there. I also talk about grief, identity, feeling both Afghan and foreign at the same time, the emotional impact of charity work, and how Afghanistan constantly humbles and changes me every time I visit.
This is probably one of the most personal and vulnerable videos I’ve recorded, but I want this channel to be an honest reflection of my growth, my healing journey, and the thoughts and emotions I experience throughout life.
I’ll also be documenting this year’s Afghanistan deployment with United Globally and Human Relief Mission, where we will be supporting vulnerable families across different provinces through food distributions, hygiene kits, hot meals, and direct cash assistance.
As always, both organisations operate with a 100% donation policy.
Thank you for being here and allowing me to share these reflections with you.
