38" Glenfield 778 12ga Pump Shotgun Just Got Home From My FFL

Rare old shotgun. This is one of the 1,238 Glenfields Marlin produced with the extra long barrel.

Marlin did this as nothing more than a marketing gimmick to try and sell more pump shotguns in a flooded market.

There was a philosophy in the 70's that the longer barrel met a longer distance a shotgun would hold a pattern. Their were several manufacturers at that time building 32" and 36" inch barrel shotguns in semi-autos, single barrels, bolt actions, and double barrels. Marlin went a little further and began building a few of these pumps in 38" and 40" barrels.
