My schizophrenic mom hallucinated doorbells ringing & got committed to a mental institution

When I was 13, my schizophrenic mom hallucinated doorbells and got committed to a mental institution.

My dad was away at sea, and my mom thought someone was ringing our doorbell and running away. She called the cops every night for weeks, waking us all up.

She set up a video camera. It caught something. The doorbell stalker!

She took me straight to the police station to show them the footage... And they laughed!

When I got home from school, Mom was gone.

She had been taken to a mental institution, where she was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

What had she recorded on that tape that got her committed?

... Her own reflection. 🤦‍♀️

She kept hallucinating doorbells even after Dad disconnected our doorbell.
