ITV News Special- Princess Diana's Body Returns To Britain

At 6.50pm on the evening of Sunday, August 31 1997, a BAe 146 of the Royal Squadron landed at RAF Northolt carrying the body of Diana, Princess of Wales. It was accompanied from Paris by the Prince of Wales, and her two sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquadale. Although she had lost her royal status after her divorce, she was afforded the exact same ceremonial of a full member of the Royal Family and her coffin was draped in the Royal Standard. Prime Minister Tony Blair, Defence Secretary George Robertson, The Lord Chamberlain and Lord Lieutenant of Greater London were there to welcome her home.
