Peru's presidential runoff remains on a knife edge, but Roberto Sánchez is already urging supporters to defend what he says is the people's verdict.

Addressing cheering backers in Lima, Sánchez called for electoral transparency and respect for the final outcome as quick counts showed him holding a razor-thin lead over Keiko Fujimori.
