Plaka Forest Kos - Greece

The forest of Plaka is located near the airport of the island of Kos approximately in the middle of the island in a natural depression at an altitude between 50 m and 90 m above sea level. The distance to Kos airport is about 2.5 km as the crow flies, 3.5 km to Andimachia and about 11 km as the crow flies to Kefalos.

The forest is also a popular destination for the locals. Access is via a junction from the main road from Kos to Kefalos. After the airport (in the direction of Kefalos) there is an easy-to-miss sign "Plaka" to this junction on the right. This road is partly in bad condition (partly gravel) and passes a quarry.

Der Wald von Plaka liegt in der Nähe des Flughafens der Insel Kos etwa in der Mitte der Insel in einer natürlichen Senke auf einer Höhe zwischen 50 m bis 90 m über dem Meer. Die Entfernung zum Flughafen Kos beträgt etwa 2,5 km Luftlinie, nach Andimachia 3,5 km und nach Kefalos rund 11 km Luftlinie.

Der Wald ist ein auch bei Einheimischen beliebtes Ausflugsziel. Die Zufahrt erfolgt über eine Abzweigung von der Hauptstraße von Kos nach Kefalos. Nach dem Flughafen (Richtung Kefalos) befindet sich rechts ein leicht zu übersehendes Hinweisschild „Plaka“ zu dieser Abzweigung. Diese Straße ist teilweise in schlechtem Zustand (teilweise Schotter) und führt an einem Steinbruch vorbei.
