Richard Dawkins explores the poetry of evolution in the Arctic 🐻‍❄️

From The God Delusion to The Selfish Gene, science writer Richard Dawkins' prolific output has popularised evolutionary thinking and made an ever-stronger case for a rational, science-backed understanding of the world we live in. But, he says, there is a creativity to science that has helped the greatest scientific thinkers connect new ideas and push science forward, "it's this poetry of science that I try to communicate", he says when we catch up with him in Svalbard on a New Scientist Discovery Tour, on which he was a guest. To explore creativity in science further, Dawkins's upcoming book looks at Ernst Haeckel's 'Artforms in Nature' and uses it to "tell an unusual set of tales about the animal concerned," he says.
