How to Get World Class Bonsai Material Absolutely Free
I am sorry for the sketchy audio on this video. My bonsai club was invited on a juniper dig at a private home in a very exclusive area. We could not bring in professional video equipment due to the neighborhood. The house was scheduled to be torn down, so the dig took place under a time deadline. The material we were digging was fifty year old Prostrata Junipers with massive trunks. Just about any of these would make a beautiful world class bonsai due to the age and thickness of the trunk. The average dig time on each juniper was 1.5 to 2 hours due to the heavy clay soil. The technique was to trench around them and then go under them with sledgehammers and digging bars and pop them out of the soil. July in California is a bad time to collect anything but Ficus or Bougainvillea, but we had no choice. We also show you aftercare techniques which in this case should result in a one hundred percent survival rate for the junipers.
