Altro Typeface - Variable Animation

Designed by Francesco Canovaro with Andrea Tartarelli and Mario De Libero, Altro is a typeface that seamlessly transitions between humanist grotesque and serif old style, offering flawless pairing within a single font family. It allows designers to maintain visual harmony while experimenting with different aesthetics, thanks to its consistent set of proportions and visual weights. In its Grotesk incarnation, Altro is a Swiss-inspired, low-contrast sans serif with a wide range of eight weights. Its slightly lower-than-usual x-height lends it a touch of elegance while preserving its functionality as a workhorse typeface. The Serif version features an old-style transitional design, characterized by distinctive square dots and a brutalist approach to ball terminals.
