Dolphins in Lyme Bay Riding Bow Wave of our Sargo 36 Explorer
On our journey from Portland to Dartmouth on the 30th December 2018 in our Sargo 36 Explorer we encountered a pod of 20-30 dolphins in Lyme Bay, about 7 nautical miles east of Dartmouth.
The pod of dolphins were heading in the opposite direction. We turned around and reduced our speed to 7-8 knots to match the speed of the pod. Dolphins started breaking from the pod, swimming over to our boat and then riding our bow wave.
It was very exciting as you can tell from our voices!
