Every time Michael was tested to determine what was wrong, he never showed symptoms of scoliosis. He experienced difficulties walking, had to sit more often than normal kids, had pain in his knees and back.

Michael was originally sent to get physical therapy for his knees. After seeing no improvement, his mother took him to another doctor who diagnosed him with scoliosis. At that point, the doctor said the curve was small, and it was better to wait and see how it progressed.

After 9 months, his curve had gotten worse. He could not lift his head, he could not straighten his knees, his head was tilting to one side, and he could not keeps his shoes on. His curve progressed to nearly 30 degrees in less than a year.

Doctors recommended the Providence brace or Scoliosis Surgery, but this was not an option for Michael's mother.

Michael's mother found Dr. Nalda through a friend. Ever since Michael started treatment, he has been dedicated to completing his exercise program without fail. He initially had to wear a brace for 23 hours per day. Currently, Michael is down to 12 hours and will soon reduce his bracing to 8 hours per day.
