Rapeseed oil refining process | From crude rapeseed oil to refined oil

Rapeseed oil is one of the world's most consumed edible oils, valued for its light colour, neutral taste, and strong nutritional profile. Rich in monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids, it is widely used in cooking, processed foods, biodiesel, and oleochemical applications.

In this video, we present Kumar's rapeseed oil refining process, showing how crude rapeseed oil is transformed into refined oil suitable for food and industrial use.

The process begins with degumming, where phospholipids are hydrated and removed as wet gums. This is followed by alkali refining and neutralisation to eliminate free fatty acids, producing soap stock as a by-product. Bleaching then removes colour pigments and trace contaminants, generating spent earth. Finally, deodorisation strips volatile compounds and off-flavours to yield refined rapeseed oil.

If you are planning a rapeseed oil refinery or evaluating your edible oil processing line, get in touch with Kumar to explore how we can support your project.
