Carolina Piedmont Railroad: GE turbine move – The Chase from Greenville to Laurens, SC

Here in the upstate of South Carolina on this very hazy Saturday, we are at the Carolina Piedmont Division Railroad (CPDR) for their special move. Today, CPDR would haul a General Electric Gas Turbine and what looks like a large generator (I could be wrong) from GE’s plant in Greenville, SC to the CSX interchange in Laurens, SC. This video details the entire trip back south starting from Greenville and proceeding through the towns of Mauldin, Simpsonville, Fountain Inn, Gray Court before finally tying down in Laurens. This type of move doesn’t happen very often so in many ways, I was fortunate to be able to chase this and get enough of a heads up that this was going to be running. As always, enjoy!
