Australian universities are 'high on the list of institutions' China aims to control

Sky News host Catherine McGregor says Australian universities should be more transparent about their connections to China.

“The cash cow upon which the tertiary sector has been built, until the COVID lockdown and closure of borders, has been soft money pouring in from foreign enrolments,” she told Sky News host Alan Jones.

Ms McGregor said China seeks out universities as they are “high on the list of institutions that they seek to exert control over and infiltrate” and Australian universities allow this as international students pay full university fees.

“If our values are for sale then China will win.”
