Gas price relief coming to Hoosiers

Indiana Gov. Mike Braun is extending the suspension of both the sales and excise taxes on gas for at least another month.

The news release says the suspension is the 7% Gasoline Usage Tax and the Gasoline Excise Tax through July 7. For June, the Gasoline Usage Tax would have been $0.265 per gallon, and the Gasoline Excise Tax is currently $0.36 per gallon. Suspending both taxes means Hoosiers will save 62 cents per gallon.

According to AAA, Indiana has the cheapest gas in the country, with an average of $3.585 for a gallon of unleaded gas, as of Wednesday, June 3. The national average for a gallon of unleaded gas is $4.261.
