Mark Keans, a father-of-four, is battling terminal cancer in a Brisbane hospital and has been told it is unlikely he will survive past Christmas. His family is stuck on the other side of the NSW border and have been denied a border exemption. Instead, they have been given an impossible choice; pick one child to say goodbye to their dad.

It's a decision so impossible, Mr Kean's father, Bruce Langvorne, told Today the family has refused to choose.
