The unprecedented international musical project “Mare Balticum” joins the Latvian Radio Big Band and famous Australian trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist James Morrison.
The project begun as part of "Riga 2014" or Riga as the European Capital of Culture. The musical programme consists of 10 unique arrangements of Latvian folk songs - the arrangements and a two-part original piece were created by James Morrison. The 2016 performance is a presentation of the programme's CD and features special guests Justin Kauflin (piano) and Michael Pipoquinha (bass). The CD is available for purchase here:

James Morrison is a great storyteller – he is an outstanding musician, performer, and adventurous Australian who knows how to live his life the fullest!
All pieces are Latvian folk songs and were arranged by James Morrison (except for "Bēdu manu lielu bēdu", which was arranged by Graeme Lyall). The two-part piece "Klusums un vētra" or "Calm and storm" are original pieces of James Morrison.
