In my first ever trip to the Indonesian island of Sumatra I decided to start the trip in style, by splashing out on a hotel for the massive price of $8. You certainly can't call me a cheap Scotsman.

Was my Medan city center hotel worth this lofty price? Watch and see.

The hotel was OYO 615 Residence Puri Hotel, located on Jalan Puri. This is a very central location in Medan and anything you want is not too far away.

The video starts at Medan's main airport, Kualanamu International Airport. A nice, modern and clean airport with a new train service to Medan city center, right outside the massive Center Point Mall.
