Both circuits can be used together or separately, with the Preamp at unity gain or as a boost. You can also switch the order of the circuits! As a bass player, I find that this unit gives me a delicious amount of natural sounding break-up. I tend to favor it with the gain cranked higher and the Preamp at unity gain running into the drive. It pushes the drive a little harder and colors my tone a bit more. ALL without loss of low-end— and I didn’t really need to mess with the tone or hi/low cut switches. 😍

For the Preamp: 1st I show my completely unaffected tone, and then I show you the sound of the Preamp at unity. I love the slightly warmer, rounder tone enhancement. Pairs well with all of my basses & makes a nice “always-on.” Neat to be able to set it as a boost, if I ever want to.

Tone: Fender P Bass w/ Rotosound strings, Hartke HD500 amp set flat. NO other pedals used in this demo— just the EP Drive.
