Lauren-Allison achieve their American dream at Malaysia Masters

World No. 21 Lauren Lam-Allison Lee's campaign may have ended, but their passage to the Malaysia Masters semi-finals is another testament that American women's doubles is on the rise.

It was Lauren-Allison's first Super 500 semi-final appearance, but the pair put up a strong fight against Japan's Sayaka Hirota-Ayaka Sakuramoto before going down 21-15, 17-21, 21-11 in 71 minutes at the Unifi Arena on Saturday.

The two-time Pan American Championships champions, while delighted with their breakthrough progress, were left with mixed feelings as they could have gone a step further at the Malaysia Masters.

"It's bittersweet. Losing always hurts, especially in the semi-finals when a place in the final is at stake. But I'm proud that we gave everything and put in 100 per cent," Lauren said.
