Holy Night (1917)

VICTOR – 45145 - A
Adolphe Adam, composer
Lucille Isabelle Marsh, vocalist
Lyric Quartet, background
Issued 1917

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appear'd and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night divine, O night, O night Divine

Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night divine, O night, O night Divine
Lucille Isabelle Marsh (April 10, 1878 – January 20, 1956) was an American lyric soprano[ who made her career as a professional recording artist for the Victor Talking Machine Company. She was an anonymous mainstay of the company, recording prodigiously from 1909 into the late 1920s. At the same time, she quickly won popular and critical recognition under her own name as a major artist on recordings for Victor.

The Lyric Quartet was a highly prolific vocal ensemble that recorded extensively for the Victor Talking Machine Company during the acoustic era of the early 20th century

Victor Records were produced by the Victor Talking Machine Company, a major US recording and phonograph company founded in 1901, known for its "Victrola" phonographs and "His Master's Voice" logo featuring Nipper, the listening dog. It would later become the RCA Victor Division after merging with RCA in 1929, before eventually becoming the modern-day RCA Records.
