I thought the mode switch would be annoying. I was wrong again. #hacksquat #homegym

The leg press and hack squat combo machines I've used mostly work the same way on the mode switch. There's a back pad. You remove it, swap it to the other position, and bolt or pin it in place. It takes two or three minutes if you know what you're doing.

The Powertec does something different.

The foot plate on the leg press side has a pot pin. You release that pin, fold the plate down, and the back surface of that plate is now your hack squat back pad. The same piece of hardware does both jobs. You didn't remove anything, you didn't bolt anything down. You folded one plate.

Ten seconds. No tools required.

I'll be honest: before I did it the first time, I assumed the foam pad on the back of that plate would interfere with the leg press somehow. That it would feel soft under load or compress over time. It doesn't. The pad sits cleanly in the foot plate area when not in use and stays on the machine.

One honest note: at the deepest positions in hack squat mode, the leg press butt pad can graze your tailbone at 6'1". It doesn't stop a rep. But you'll notice it.

Full 90-day review is in this video. @powertecfitness if you want to check it out.
