Timm "The It Factor" Kitts controlled this match for nearly the entire eight minutes. Dominated it. Ricky Lopez spent the better part of the round on the wrong end of Kitts's grappling game with no real answer for what was happening to him.
Then, in the final seconds, Kitts went for a triangle escape, reinjured his shoulder, and tapped himself out.
The record shows a submission loss. The record is technically accurate and tells absolutely none of the story.
This is one of those fights where the outcome and the performance are two completely separate things — a man who controlled eight minutes of a grappling match, had his opponent in trouble, and lost in the final seconds not because his opponent was better but because his own body made a decision his brain didn't agree with.
