Yancoal Acquires 80% of Kestrel Coal Mine for US$2.4B | ASX: YAL News

Yancoal Australia (ASX: YAL) has entered into a binding
agreement to acquire an 80% interest in the Kestrel Coal Mine
in Queensland's Bowen Basin for up to US$2.4 billion.

The deal includes an upfront cash payment of US$1.85 billion
at completion, plus contingent payments of up to US$550
million over five years, tied to coal price performance.

Kestrel is Australia's largest producing underground
metallurgical coal mine, with a 25-year mine life, 164 Mt of
marketable coal reserves, and 2025 saleable production of
5.9 Mt.

Yancoal plans to fund the acquisition through available cash
and a US$1.2 billion syndicated loan facility, with a further
US$200 million working capital facility in place.
