Jaco Pastorius Quintet - 4 Tunes From 2nd set at Seventh Avenue South April 13th 1981)

Here are the first four tunes from the 2nd set that Jaco and his quintet played at Seventh Avenue South on April the 13th in 1981. At first during his solo on the set opener "Invitation" Jaco struggles a bit with coming up with ideas and repeats the Word of Mouth riff multiple times before he finally gets struck with inspiration and slays the rest of the solo. Next follows a rendition of "Three Views Of A Secret" which is unique for the fact that Jaco states the melody almost exclusively without using false harmonics. As opposed to the first set he doesn't solo on "Donna Lee", but he plays a lot of interesting stuff while walking behind Brecker and Mintzer's monster solos. After Erskine's drum solo the band restates the head at a blistering tempo. During his stand alone bass solo he does some exciting things with harmonics in addition to playing "Blackbird", "Chromatic Fantasy" and "Amerika" interspersed with some brief improv sections.
