Derrick Evans, West Virginia Lawmaker, Charged for Capitol Attack

Derrick Evans, a former Republican lawmaker in West Virginia, has been federally charged after joining the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Derrick Evans was elected to the West Virginia state legislature in November and sworn into office in December. Less than a month later, he was part of a mob swarming the U.S. Capitol and live streamed the events on Facebook.

Two days after the Capitol riots, Derrick Evans was charged with unlawfully entering a restricted building and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Evans has since resigned.
