Secret BBQ Rib Recipe Revealed? I've been chasing this recipe for Love's Wood Pit BBQ Ribs for years now, and I think I've finally nailed it. After a few video posts of my attempts, I started getting emails from former pitmasters and staff of the now long closed Loves BBQ restaurants. Sauce Recipe:
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup apple cider vinegar
Juice from 2 medium sized lemons
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons dehydrated onion
1 tablespoon dehydrated garlic
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons BBQ seasoning
1 tablespoon celery seed
Bring the above ingredients to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Then add:
24 ounces ketchup
2 tablespoons liquid smoke
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Simmer for another 40-50 minutes, then allow to cool.
Glaze Recipe:
2 tablespoons pork lard
24 ounces Karo Dark Syrup
2 tablespoons pickling spice
Melt pork lard in a pot over low heat, then add pickling spice. Add Karo syrup and increase heat to medium, stirring frequently. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
